1. Product Introduction

FUSHUN METAL supplies the three main families of tool and mould steel in flat bar and strip for toolmakers, mould shops and die builders worldwide. Cold work tool steel (D2, O1) is a high-carbon alloy family selected for wear resistance and edge retention in stamping, blanking and forming tools that work at room temperature. Hot work tool steel (H13) is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium grade that keeps its hardness and toughness at elevated service temperature, making it the standard material for die casting and hot forming dies. Plastic mould steel (P20, 718, S136) is engineered for injection mould cavities, inserts and mould bases, combining uniform hardness with good machinability and polishability; the corrosion-resistant S136 serves aggressive resins and mirror-finish tooling.

As an ISO 9001-certified partner of selected Chinese tool steel mills, FUSHUN METAL controls the whole flow before delivery: grade selection, spheroidizing annealing, flattening and straightening, cutting to length, surface finishing, inspection and export packing. Every lot is traceable to its heat number so your workshop receives material that is ready for machining with full documentation.

3. Typical Applications

Cold work (D2, O1): blanking, piercing and trimming dies; punches and die sets for sheet up to 2 mm; shear blades for sheet, strip and plate; slitting and trimming cutters; thread rolling dies; cold extrusion dies; deep drawing and forming tools; flanging rolls; woodworking and paper knives; wear strips and machine guide parts.

Hot work (H13): aluminium, zinc and magnesium die casting dies, cores and inserts; aluminium extrusion dies, backers and dummy blocks; hot forging dies and hot shear blades; mandrels, sleeves and bolsters; hot gripper and bending tools; nitrided plastic moulds for abrasive and glass-filled compounds. Premium ESR H13 is offered for high-pressure die casting and high-polish tools.

Plastic mould (P20, 718, S136): injection mould cavities and cores; mould bases, bolsters, frames, holders and support plates; 718 for thick-section moulds, deep cavities and textured automotive-interior tooling where uniform hardness through heavy sections is required; S136 for optical and lens moulds, medical and food-packaging moulds, PVC and flame-retardant resin tooling and all corrosion-exposed inserts.

4. Supply Program and Sizes

• Hot-rolled flat bar (rolled flat): thickness 3-350 mm, width 10-810 mm, length 1,000-6,000 mm; longer lengths on request.
• Forged flat / rectangular block: thickness 20-600 mm, width up to 1,500 mm, length to agreement.
• Hot-rolled strip (coil or cut lengths): thickness 1.0-20 mm, width 10-400 mm.
• Precision ground / machined flat (optional): thickness 1-100 mm, width 10-310 mm, tight tolerance for immediate use.
• Companion rolled round bar: diameter 10-350 mm, same grades and heat treatment.

Thickness and width follow EN 10058 or mill tolerance; straightness within 3 mm/m. FUSHUN METAL holds flexible stock and can anneal, straighten, cut, chamfer, edge-mill and lightly machine flats to your drawing before dispatch, so each piece arrives dimensionally ready for your workshop.

5. Chemical Composition

6. Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment

Values below are typical and given for reference; acceptance criteria follow the governing standard and the mill test certificate. Hardened tool steels are normally accepted by hardness, since elongation in the hardened state is not an acceptance criterion.

7. Delivery Condition, Surface and Quality Control

Delivery condition: D2, O1 and H13 are supplied soft annealed (spheroidized) for easy machining, with a decarburization layer limited to the ordered standard; P20 and 718 are supplied pre-hardened at 28-38 HRC; S136 is supplied annealed or pre-hardened on request. Hardened and tempered bars are available for selected sizes. Cutting tolerance is plus 5 / 0 mm on length unless otherwise agreed.

Surface finish: hot-rolled black surface as standard, or descaled and pickled, milled (light machined) or ground on request; edges as-rolled, sheared or milled; bars are oiled with a rust preventive before packing.

FUSHUN METAL quality system (ISO 9001): every heat is verified by spectrometer against the ordered grade; spheroidizing annealing is run under controlled atmosphere with recorded temperature curves; Brinell and Rockwell hardness is checked per lot; dimensions, straightness and surface are inspected piece by piece; decarburization and carbide structure are controlled to the standard; optional ultrasonic testing to SEP 1921 class can be added for critical tools. Each bar is marked with grade, heat number and size, and a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1 is issued with every delivery. Third-party inspection by SGS, BV or your agent is welcome.

Packing: bars are bundled, edge-protected, wrapped in waterproof paper and packed on pallets or in wooden crates, suitable for sea and air freight. FUSHUN METAL ships worldwide and confirms delivery time with each order.
